Defection saga: Mimiko says nobody can chase him out of PDP

GOVERNOR Olusegun Mimiko of Ondo state yesterday reacted to the furore his defection to the Peoples Democratic Party PDP is generating and declared that nobody can chase him out of the party. He broke his silence in Akure when the Party’s National Youth Leader Abdullaih Maibasira led youths leaders across the country to welcome him to the party. Mimiko said ” I have not come to the PDP to be part of any crisis, I have come to add value and have come with clean mind and hands. Labour Party candidate, Mimiko Labour Party candidate, Mimiko He said he was not coming to the PDP on the eve of an election for second term. There were entreaties for me to come to the PDP before the election. ” So now that I have come to add value after my second term election, nobody will chase me away from this party. ” If anybody thinks they are going to create crisis and get me angry and think that they can send me away from the PDP they are only joking. I have come to stay and to add value to this Party. Dr Mimiko also came down hard on PDP members in the state who went court after a decision was taken on his defection. ”

No party will survive without party discipline. A party that takes decision and cannot enforce it is not a party. ” A situation where decisions are taken at the highest level and some members of the party will rush to court is indiscipline He said that since he joined the party over 250,000 cards have been given in two days to new members. ” We have come with the whole of ondo state into PDP, since I became the governor we have won eight election and have not lost any. ‘ I am not coming alone to the PDP. I came with all Political appointees. So give us space so lets come together to build this party and also move it forward. ” “No party will survive without party discipline, a party that takes decision and cannot enforce it is not a party, a situation where decisions are taken at the highest level chaired by the Senate President and some party members went to court to challenge it is unacceptable. “I have not come to PDP to be part of crisis, I have come to add value, I am not coming into PDP on the eve of a second term election aand that is part of what we should consider, as a person I have no second term ambition, there is no Senate available for me, I have only come to add value. “I am back in this party, I have made the move and nobody is going to force me out of PDP again, if anybody thinks he will create crisis and I will get angry and leave they are just wasting time, let us come together and build this party, discipline must be maintained. “My colleagues that have decamped to PDP in the past they give them all the structure, all of them, Abia, Bauchi, Zamfara but I said I don’t need all the structure just to give comfort to the people am bringing on board, out of 27 seats at the state level I said let me take 14 and they take 13, anybody that say that is not fair enough for a governor that is coming with 25 members out of 26 in the House of Assembly. “Since we came on board in 2009, we have had eight elections, Labour Party did not lose any of them, that is that value we are bringing and that is why am saying that the i minimum is what we are asking, I was even surprised that people are contesting, I thought they should be exited. “Out of the 27 we are asking for because youth leader is so important, we say they should take youth leader and we take woman leader or they take woman leader while we take youth leader. “I am not coming alone, out of nine House of Assembly we won eight, by my coming now all of them will become PDP apart from the one that went to APC, so am coming with value, am coming with all commissioners, everybody in government, give space to us so that we can build this our party. Responding, the youth leader maibasira described the coming back of the governor as home coming. According to him ” you were part of the house, you stood firm for the party. You only went on political sabbatical and now you are back. He commended the transformation that the governor has broyght to the state in all sectors saying that they went round and saw all the projects done within the last five years of the governor’s administartion in the state.
